As part of efforts to support the empowerment and development of women’s potential in Côte d’Ivoire, the Ivorian Center for Economic and Social Research (CIRES), with support from Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), has been implementing the following project since March 2024: “Using the TIKA Improved Stove to Reduce Women’s Domestic Workload in Rural Côte d’Ivoire.”
The main objective of this project is to reduce women’s domestic workload by significantly reducing the time spent preparing meals. The time saved will allow beneficiary women to engage in income-generating activities.
The primary objective of this project is to reduce women’s domestic workload by helping them save a significant amount of time when preparing meals. The time saved will enable the women beneficiaries to engage in income-generating activities.
With a view to scaling up this project, the coordination and implementation team intends to develop several partnership strategies, including the signing of an agreement with the Federation of Women in the Food Sector of Côte d’Ivoire (FFSV-CI), to strengthen the impact and sustainability of the actions undertaken.
With this in mind, on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 10 a.m., the Tika project team, led by the project coordinator and Director of CIRES, Dr. DIARRA Ibrahima, received a delegation from the Federation of Women in the Food Sector of Côte d’Ivoire (FFSV-CI) in the Kouadio Yao Room,
led by the Federation’s President, Ms. Gbakayoro Lucie.
The main purpose of this meeting was to sign a partnership agreement between the two institutions.
The ceremony featured opening remarks, including those by the Director of CIRES, who introduced his institution and its missions, as well as the significance of the agreement. Continuing his remarks, the TIKA project coordinator briefly explained the objectives of each stakeholder’s commitments: FFSV-CI commits to mobilizing its members, identifying beneficiaries’ needs, integrating women into the TIKA project, and contributing its agricultural expertise, while CIRES will provide its scientific expertise, conduct research and training, disseminate results, and support the Federation in formulating and securing project funding.
As for the President of the FFSV-CI, she spoke, emphasizing that this agreement with CIRES is an opportunity for them, through the TIKA project, to improve women’s lives. She called for the project to be expanded to include urban women.
The meeting concluded with the official signing of the agreement between the two parties, followed by remarks of thanks to the participants by the Director of CIRES and a group photo.
